The Animal Control Section of the Rolla Police Department is charged with the responsibility of enforcing all laws pertaining to animals (both domestic and wild) and of caring for injured, abused or neglected animals. They also have the responsibility of humanely capturing animals running at large, which in some way pose a threat to the peace, health or welfare of the community.
Animals are not allowed to run at large in Rolla, and pets must be vaccinated against rabies by a practicing veterinarian at least once a year. The owner will be issued a metal tag from the veterinarian. This tag is to be fastened to some type of collar around the animals neck at all times.
If your pet is picked up by Animal Control, you may contact the Animal Control Officer, pay the impounding fees, and have your pet released to you. In the event the pet is unclaimed within five (5) days, the animal will be offered for adoption to the public or put to sleep.
