Hello. I’m Frannie. I’m a 4 year old, 8 pound Chihuahua. I want to love; I try, but people, touch, houses and big dogs are scary for me right now. I will run and hide, but once you get a hold of me, I will let you pet me and I do like it, but I am hand shy. I always enjoy eating my dinner.  I am quiet as can be and never bark.




I am working on being house trained and am crate trained. I definitely need more practice on the leash, as I freeze when on one right now. I am very fearful of new things, loud noises, men, children and lots of commotion. Imagine you never were expose to any of this and all of sudden, there is so much to take in. It's all a lot, but my foster knows that I will adjust in time!




I’m not much for playing with the other dogs and energetic dogs are a bit much for me. I know what I do not like and I’m not afraid to tell other dogs to exit my space. I am working on overcoming a touch of food guarding around other dogs, too. I don't know all the rules yet or what is expected of me, so I'm doing my best. I need a forever home with a mellow, lower energy dog around my size that I can learn the rules from. I would likely be okay with larger dogs that leave me be though.




I have love within me under all the fear; I simply need time and love to conquer my fears. I just haven’t quite learned the wonderful parts of living in a home yet, but I’ll get there. I need your patience, because with practice, courage and some good examples, I can be the dog I was meant to be. Who can be my savior and show me the way?



 



 




Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:  




Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:





All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:





Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
