Adopt a Chihuahua

Chihuahua Dog

Toni the Dog needs a home

Little deer headed chi - possibly some mix.  Please come visit her soon as you can!

About 8 years old, 12 lbs, affectionate, friendly and outgoing to her people -  loves her play time and being cuddled. She's a funny girl- she loves to splash her paws in her water bowl.

She wants to be near you and will climb, yes, climb...a 6 ft chain link to get to you. She only does this to get to you, though, not to get away from you. She hasn't shown herself to be an escape artist here. She gets along well with other dogs- she's very popular with the dogs in her section here. She's a tomboy and would rather hang out with the guys, especially her longtime pals Odie and Bobo.

She is a very smart girl and learns things quickly. She knows a lot of commands, such as sit, follow me, down, get on the couch, and come. She even knows some tricks- she's learned high five and roll over. She knows how to "wait" at a door or gate, and then she waits for someone to say "door" and point to the ground- then she knows to go through. One fault is that she does tend to swarm all over you when you sit down! But she is learning right now how to be better behaved.

Her main issue in her new home will be that she gets very nervous when she leaves our grounds, and may get nippy. Understandable- because our chihuahuas or chi mixes often get overlooked, she's been here 6 years and thinks this is home. She hasn't liked going out to adoption events and was returned after just a couple days at a new home because she nipped in nervousness. That's the only time that she ever nips- she's never done that at the rescue. A new home will have to give her time to settle in- we ask that all our dogs be given the chance of at least two weeks- and then she will be a great girl. Maybe visiting her before the adoption will help.

Are you my furrever family?

For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section where very thorough instructions await.  All our dogs are spayed/neutered, micorchipped, and

fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records.

The beauty of coming to our Apple Valley sanctuary is that you can see all 90+ dogs!

No more weekend mobiles—only special events. Maybe if there are enuff appointments, we could see you in

El Monte or Orange County or nearby. Email your application and ask for more details!
