Adopt a Basset Hound
Dixie the Dog needs a home
Sweet Dixie had a tough life - first she was used as a breeder for most of her life - probably outside- then ended up in the shelter with a couple of her unwanted puppies- thrown away like garbage. She only wants to be loved especially by the woman in her life. If you need a basset shadow she is your girl - but expect a lot of whining if you try to leave her in another room. She is heart worm positive and needs a spay so it will be a month or two before she is ready. Check back for updates.
UPDATE: Dixie is ready to find her perfect home
Hi there my name is Dixie! After I was taken to the shelter the nice people at NTBHR came and got me all the way from Tyler Texas. I am a distinguished lady of nine years. I currently live with a foster family that has the greatest hoomans! My favorite one is the little hooman (he is three and shares his food with me). I have a fur foster brother and sister. I really love to hang out with my foster mom. I am learning that bei
ng loved is the best feeling in the world! I have learned to use the door made just for the dogs, I can chase the squirrels and birds anytime I want to. I try to investigate my foster mom's cat but he runs so of course I give chase. I am working on my leash manners, my last owners never took me for walks. I am also working on separation anxiety ( not sure what my foster mom means by that). Did I mention I really love hanging with my foster mom? I used to cry the whole time she was gone, but now I just whimper for a few minutes and then take a nap. I would like to find a forever hooman to love and nap with! I am eager to learn and please. Who is ready for the best napping partner in North Texas?
