Chunk is a darling Chihuahua. He is almost 3 years old and 9 pounds.
He is great with other dogs and learning each day that humans can be trusted. He is still nervous and will need time to come out of his shell, but he's showing lots of interest in his people. It's very cute when he peeks around the corner to keep an eye on his foster family. He does relax once he gets used to being held, and his forever family will need to continue working on touch therapy with him.
He will need another dog in his forever home to help him continue to learn to trust humans. He has only been around smaller dogs and having one around his size in his furever home would be best for him. He's also starting to show interest in treats and has realized bully sticks are the best!
He is trained to go to the bathroom outside and can also use a potty pad inside if needed. He isn't crate trained or leash trained yet. For that reason and because he's still nervous a fenced in yard is required for him. He only barks when alarmed and has the cutest little grunt you've ever heard.
He is a sweet natured little boy who is so excited to find his forever home. He hopes it is with you!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
