Adopt a Chihuahua
Alden the Dog needs a home
A DARLING LITTLE CHARACTER: 10 years old / 5 lbs. Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. I’m a great little cuddle bug who loves to hang out with my people! In fact, I’ve liked all the people I’ve met at the MM shelter & loved being carried around & held by them. I’m in a foster home now & having fun! I came to MM’s with severe arthritis in my neck & spine which causes me to walk wobbly, but my foster mom has been surprised at how well I get around & with my lively & adorable spirit! I likely had an injury years ago that caused this trouble & arthritis just set in. My foster mom gives me a Dasuquin supplement for joint health daily & I may need a steroid injection from time to time. I had one on January 26th, 2018. In general, I don’t seem to be in pain, which is fantastic! I love the other small dogs in my foster home, & will even chase them playfully, but the older one’s don’t always love me as I lick & sniff them which they find irritating. I’ve also tried to mount them, but just being neutered will help with that. So, if you have a patient/tolerant doggie at home, let’s meet. I do best on carpet & rugs as tile and hard surfaced floors are a little slippery for me. I need to have my food & water on something like a little rug or bath mat, otherwise my back legs just slide backwards & it’s hard to eat. I’ve just had my teeth cleaned as well as 8 pulled, & I was already missing quite a lot, but I do have some left & don’t have a problem eating. Canned food or kibble that’s soaked in a little water may be best. I shouldn’t do stairs, so the less the better, however I only weight 5 lbs. so I can easily be carried up & down them. I like being held too, so I won’t mind. I get to sleep in a tiny dog bed in my foster mom’s bed & she’s careful that I don’t fall out. In my foster home, I’m pretty much pee pad trained as long as there are a few I can get to, & I’ll potty outside too if you take me, just keep me safe from the birds of prey as I’m tiny. I should not be walked on a leash attached to my collar, per the vet, but a harness & walking me gently should work well. A fenced backyard is great too! I may mark a little at first since I’ve just been neutered & had a urinary infection that I’m recovering from. Much older kids only as I’m tiny & due to my severe arthritis. Energy level: 3-4. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered & my adoption fee is $275.00.
