I am Virigina. I have the cutest nicknames,  Ginny, Gin, or Ginny Gin and I know them all! I am about 6 years old and 7 pounds.  They say I am a darling little girl who has so much potential with just a little patience from my human caregivers.

I am very curious of my new home life after spending my first 5 years in a commercial breeding facility.  I am slowly learning how to trust people and show up with a brave face every day!  I have come so far in my foster home!  I am even doing well with children now as long as they're respectful. At home I am a very happy little girl, I wag my tail and do the most adorable happy dance. I love to follow my foster mom all around the house, up and down the stairs, no problem, anywhere she goes I'm there!  I am quiet outside the home, but still such a good girl.  I do such a good job in the car, and in pet stores. I could be the perfect companion to bring along anywhere!

I am great with other dogs and cats.  I will need another doggie friend in my forever home to help me learn how to trust humans and how to navigate the big world of new things I am learning!  I've started playing with my foster fur siblings and it's so much fun! Calm, respectful dogs are ideal, since energetic ones are sort of bothersome to me. If I have bigger dogs in my furever home they'll need to be gentle since I'm so little. I'm such a kind girl, and get along with all animals-even the duck in my foster home!  There's not a mean or aggressive bone in my body.  Sometimes I bark when alarmed or when I'm so happy to see you when I'm doing my happy dance when you get home, otherwise I'm pretty quiet. I like cuddling and sleeping with my foster mom- it takes time to gain my trust but once you do, I am able to relax a bit more.

I am house trained and can go both outside and on a potty pad if needed.  I even know some commands like go potty and food!  We are working on my leash skills, which is pretty tough in these cold temps.  I will become so good on a leash once we practice more!  C'mon spring, I am ready for you.

My favorite things to do is run around in my fenced yard.  Boy, I am fast and have so much fun!!  I may be the fastest little Chihuahua in town!  Oh and I also love treats!  Can you have some of those for me, too?  Once I am comfortable, I will take a treat from your hand, especially if it's a really tasty one, like meat or cheese! Yummy.

A calm home and patient family is all I want. I'm such a brave girl and my fun little personality is coming out more and more each day.  My foster moms funny songs and dances to get my attention doesn't scare me at all, I just watch her do her thing. I used to hide in my kennel, my safe place.  But now I'm loving my dog bed and being out and watching my foster mom.  I'm the perfect little shadow that can't wait to find my furever home.  I know my home is out there waiting for me. I will wait right here until you find me!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
