Hi, I'm Raphael, a very shy Chihuahua. I am about 2 years old and learning about life in a home.



 




This is a whole new world for me since coming into rescue.  I am really shy and nervous of all these new things, that sometimes I can get so scared I fear bite.  Because of this, it is best that I go to a furever home without any kids.  I've had a tough past and am not used to such kindness and love I've been shown in my foster home. With continued training and an adjustment to life in a home, I hope to respond more appropriately. I am trying my best to be a good and brave boy!



 




I am looking for a patient adult or two who will help me come out of my shell and see that this new life is the good life!  I have so much potential and just need the right person to help me let it out.  I'm good with dogs of all sizes, and need another one in my home to show me the ropes and help me gain confidence. 



 




My favorite thing is to play in my fenced in yard!  I'm so shy and have not started working on leash training yet, so a fenced in yard is necessary to keep me safe and happy right now!  I am still working on my house training, and I'm so close to being crate trained!  I sometimes bark a little when I'm crated, but will quiet down.



 




I am ready to find a patient furever home that will help me work through all these new experiences, could it be you?



 




Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:  




Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:





All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:





Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
